The dust has barely settled – and the hangovers have barely cleared – since Liverpool’s successful Premier League-winning campaign of 2024/25. But on 18 June 2025, the fixtures for the new EPL campaign were released. Obviously, Liverpool knew which teams they would face in 2025/26, but not the order of play. So let’s take a month-by-month look at the fixtures ahead as the Reds attempt to successfully defend a top-flight title for the first time since 1983/84.
August – Easy Opener Followed by Two Tough Challenges
Arne Slot’s men kick off their Premier League season with a nice, easy opener: Bournemouth at home. Okay, there are no truly easy games in the English top flight, but Reds fans will certainly prefer this to something like Man City away to get things going. Liverpool played Bournemouth at Anfield in September last season and won 3-0 (they also won 2-0 at their place).
After that, things get tougher, on paper at least, as next up is a trip to ambitious Newcastle United. Never an easy fixture, but at least the weather should still be decent at that time of year. Then it’s back to Anfield for the first match against a probable title contender: Arsenal. A win here would be a massive early advantage. Last season, Liverpool drew 2-2 with the Gunners both home and away, so will hope for slightly better here.
September – First Merseyside Derby
Liverpool’s first Merseyside derby against neighbours Everton takes place in September at Anfield (they’ll have to wait to visit the Toffees’ plush new stadium!). That fixture is bookended by two very winnable, but potentially tricky away matches against stubborn opponents: Burnley and Crystal Palace.
October – Crucial Duo of Games
Assuming Chelsea maintain their momentum from the end of last season and Manchester United finally find some domestic form, October could prove critical to Liverpool’s chances of retaining the title. Chelsea away comes first, before the Reds welcome the Red Devils to Anfield. The month is brought to a close with a game at Brentford, who shouldn’t pose too much of a problem as Slot’s men beat them 2-0 home and away last term – and now they are without boss Thomas Frank of course.
November – Busy Month of Key Fixtures
A full fixture list in November sees the Reds face three tough opponents… and West Ham. First up is Aston Villa at home, then the potentially title-deciding game at Man City before the Reds host Nottingham Forest, a game they’ll be wary of given Forest won on Merseyside last season. Liverpool finish the month with three points at West Ham (sorry, Hammers!).
December – Festive Fun with Winnable Series of Games
If Liverpool are top or near the top of the table coming into December, this run of fixtures gives them the chance to kick on and stamp their authority on the title race. With six games, it’s going to test the squad’s depth, but they all appear eminently winnable: Sunderland (H), Leeds (A), Brighton (H), Tottenham (A), Wolves (H), and Leeds (H). Clearly anything can happen in football, but the Reds would be disappointed with anything less than 18 points from that run of games. Having said that, we think they’ll slip to a draw in one of these games.
January – Mixed Bag at Important Stage of Campaign
Slot will be taking no chances with his side’s first match of 2026 against Fulham as Liverpool lost there 3-2 last time around. A few days later, an even tougher London fixture awaits: Arsenal away. Then Burnley visit Anfield, before another trip south (to Bournemouth), with Newcastle coming to Liverpool on the final day of the month.
February – Time to Put City’s Challenge to Bed?
A week after what could be an important game against the Magpies, Liverpool host Man City in what is sure to be a battle between two title contenders (there’s no way Pep’s men are going to underperform two seasons in a row). Away trips to Sunderland and Forest follow, before a relatively easy home game against West Ham.
March – Three Games, Three Victories?
Edging towards the business end of the season, Liverpool visit Wolves before hosting Spurs – who may or may not have improved from their disastrous 2024/25 league campaign. A trip to Brighton rounds off the relatively fixture-light month.
April – The Run-in Begins, First Trip to Everton’s New Stadium
Liverpool fans would like little more than to get three points in their first league match at Everton’s brand-spanking new home. Of course, the Toffees will be more than eager to get the win, so we can see this being a hard-fought draw. The Reds should win their other two games this month though, at home to Fulham and Palace.
May – Squeaky Bum Time or Cruising to Glory?
It’s not the easiest run-in in the world for Slot’s side, with Man United away, Chelsea at home and Villa away, before finishing the campaign with a home game against Brentford. In 2024/25, the Reds already had the title in the bag, but their form dipped badly in the closing games. Let’s hope the title’s already wrapped up as they go into May this time around as needing wins from all these games could prove tricky.
Will Liverpool Have Enough Points to Win the Title?
2025/26 Premier League fixtures release: All you need to know ⤵️
— Liverpool FC (@LFC) June 17, 2025
Based on our (fairly unscientific, at this stage) predictions, Liverpool should amass a total of 94 points. That would have been enough to win the title on all but four occasions: Chelsea (95 points in 2004/05), Man City (100 points in 2017/18), Man City (98 points in 2018/19), and Liverpool themselves (99 points in 2019/20).
Of course, it’s fine to predict wins based on fixtures that are months ahead, but the players have got to get the results where it matters: on the pitch. Signs are positive as the new season approaches, with some solid transfer business done (or close to it). However, with the likes of Man City, Arsenal, Chelsea and Newcastle United strengthening their squads, it certainly won’t be an easy title defence.
