Wijnaldum with two goals in March

Let’s hope so. After a dreadful January that pretty much ended our season with a load of loses in so many games. February followed but that wasn’t much better even though we only had three games. March then came and with only three games once again we seemed to find some form with two wins and a draw. We now have five big games in April that will decide which European competition we’ll be playing in come next season. I know that is not something to aim for at the start of the season because we want to win the league, but when it gets to April time and knowing we can’t win the league. We now have to finish as high as possible and hopefully get back into the Champions League. I think we’ll do it, but more consistency like in March is the key.

As a bit of fun still as I have more time in between games to update my site currently, we’re going to carry on doing our #LFCpredictions before each game and see how I fare against a few of my mates. It could be quite interesting mind due as I honestly think we will always predict that we win.

Sunday, 1 April 2017 @ 1230 – LIVERPOOL 3 v EVERTON 1 in the Premier League
Mané (8′ minutes), Coutinho (31′ minutes), Origi (60′ minutes)
HT 2-1
Pennington (28′ minutes)

Everton came, they tried but they were never ever going to conquer us today. Yes, they were massively under strength compared to recent weeks but we were at it right from the off and never let them play. They did get a goal back after Mane’s opener but it was against the run of play. I thought Matip was excellent and he had Lukaku in his pocket all afternoon, the Premier League’s top goalscorer never got a sniff. As for Coutinho, he ran the show from the first minute until he was substituted late into the second half. Great victory and our LFC Predictions before the game were:

Lee (Myself) – 2-0 Liverpool
Scott D – 3-1 Liverpool
Scott J – 2-1 Liverpool
Adam – 1-0 Liverpool

Man of the Match Coutinho celebrates putting us back in front

Wednesday, 5 April 2017 @ 2000 – LIVERPOOL 2 v BOURNEMOUTH 2 in the Premier League
Coutinho (40′ minutes), Origi (59′ minutes)
HT 1-1
Afobe (7′ minutes), King (87′ minutes)

With this being the closest home match to the anniversary date of the Hillsborough disaster, we once again showed our respect before the game for the 96 who lost their lives nearly 28 years ago. YNWA. The games itself was ugly again but unfortunately we couldn’t get the win today like that Burnley game back in March. We came from behind that day and we did it again last night, difference is we allowed them back in to it very late on. Which meant we did not get three points we needed and of course all our LFC Predictions before the game were wrong:

Lee (Myself) – 3-0 Liverpool
Scott D – 2-1 Liverpool
Scott J – 3-1 Liverpool
Adam – 2-0 Liverpool

Saturday, 8 April 2017 @ 1500 – STOKE CITY 1 v LIVERPOOL 2 in the Premier League
Walters (44′ minutes)
HT 1-0
Coutinho (70′ minutes), Firmino (72′ minutes)

Well it was all about the two Brazilian boys in the second half as both Coutinho and Firmino came off the bench at half-time. Twenty five minutes later and just two minutes apart they’d both scored and turned the game around in our favour. Klopp tried the youngsters in the first half, it didn’t work but there is no know harm in trying. I can’t finish without mentioning Mignolet’s two awesome saves as well that thankfully helped us get the win too. Our LFC Predictions were:

Lee (Myself) – 0-2 Liverpool
Scott D – 1-2 Liverpool
Scott J – 0-2 Liverpool
Adam – 1-3 Liverpool

Brazilian super subs to the rescue at Stoke

Sunday, 16 April 2017 @ 1330 – WEST BROM 0 v LIVERPOOL 1 in the Premier League
HT 0-1
Firmino (45’+1 minutes)

We were after more consistency at the start of April and it seems to becoming gradually that is for sure. That’s back to back away wins now in what are considered tricky places to go and gets wins. Both Stoke and West Brom don’t make things easy for you when you visit but we have battled ourselves in both games and come away with six points in total. A clean sheet was an added bonus too as they are currently a rare think for us. If we can beat Palace at home next, we’ll be well on our way to a Champions League spot for next season. We never had any doubt in yesterday’s result mind due, as our LFC Predictions before the game were:

Lee (Myself) – 1-2 Liverpool
Scott D – 1-1 Liverpool
Scott J – 0-1 Liverpool
Adam – 0-3 Liverpool

Roberto Firmino with the winner again

Sunday, 23 April 2017 @ 1630 – LIVERPOOL 1 v CRYSTAL PALACE 2 in the Premier League
Coutinho (24′ minutes)
HT 1-1
C Benteke (42′ minutes, 74′ minutes)

So much for the consistency this month then. I get you can drop points, but isn’t it even more infuriating after two great back to back away wins at tricky places. What we thought could be our toughest home game this month, beating Everton was relatively easy though. Then we go and draw to Bournemouth and lose to Palace which is what our issue has been all season. The goals we gave away as well were so poor defensively, the first one was a hoof down our left flank, followed by a first time cross into the box for an easy tap in for Benteke. The second was a drilled ball across our goal again, this time from a corner but yet another tap in for Benteke. Safe to say we didn’t see it coming in our LFC Predictions before the game:

Lee (Myself) – 1-0 Liverpool
Scott D – 2-0 Liverpool
Scott J – 1-1 draw
Adam – 2-1 Liverpool
